Monster Card and Tag

Hello Everyone! I have a Monster Birthday Card and Tag set to share with you today. I combined two Studio Katia stamps sets - Whimsical Town and Monster Bash - to create a fun scene.

As I was stamping images and deciding what mediums I will use to colour my images, I thought I'd make a quick and simple card. Well... things didn't go as planned. I ended up making a card in one of my most favourite techniques - masking! Oh yes, I'm quite crazy about masking. That's why instead of creating a quick and simple card I have a fun scene. And not a day scene, but night scene as well, as I also got a little carried away with the inks. My crafty friends call my Miss Intense for a reason. haha

And I have to admit I do like this set a lot, especially all the sparkles... But let me tell you how I made  the card before I tell you about all the finishing touches.

First I stamped three monsters on a panel I die cut with a die from Dotted Patterns Set 3. This set my latest favourite and I don't even put these dies away I use them so often. After stamping the monsters I covered them with masks and started stamping buildings. I covered all stamped images with masks (I did get carried away lol) and started working on the background. I used distress inks in blue and purple shades to make this intense night sky. To brighten it up a little I added some splashes with white and golden shimmer pens. And once I did that I knew right away what else did my scene need after I coloured all the images with alcohol markers. A lot of sparkle! I used Nuvo Crystal Glaze on couple roofs, monsters' eyes and one of the monster's head. I used Nuvo Glitter Drops to cover a star-shaped sentiment and couple roofs. I also used a clear glitter pen to highlight some small details on whimsical buildings.

Once everything was dry, I foam mounted the sentiment and three monsters. And since I coloured more monsters than I needed, I decided to add one inside of the card.

I couldn't resist making a matching tag. Usually I make two cards that look similar, and are different at the same time. Lately I am into making matching tags. I just can't get enough of that cute tag from Dotted Patterns Set 3. You will definitely be seeing more of card and tag sets from me in the near future. ;) I just love how this little guy turned out!

Hope you were inspired by my projects today! Have a great weekend!

Studio Katia September 2018 Release Blog Hop

Hello Everyone! Welcome to Studio Katia September 2018 Release Blog Hop!

You should have come here from fabulous Rubeena. Your next stop is wonderful Kaja.

For this Blog Hop I created a card and a tag using New A Cup of Thanks Stamp Set and Dotted Patterns Set 3 Creative Dies.
I coloured image on both my card and the tag with Polychromos pencils.
I wanted to make them fun and cheerful, so I decided to go for a yellow background.

I used coordinating die to create a mask. I used Mustard Seed distress ink to ink blend background on the tag. For the card I wanted a little different look, so I only used Mustard Seed on bottom portion of my card, using a strip of masking paper to create a sharp straight line. For the top part I decided to use Lemon Zing ink by SimonSaysStamp and brayering technique. Now, there is not a huge result here, as I wasn’t going for a bold background but rather cheerful, so I only went over my panel few times to have that slight gradient of yellow from darker (not dark, just slightly darker ;)) to light.

I don’t know about you, I usually think of a sentiment in the very last moment. Well not this time. Before I started brayering my background, I die cut word thanks (which is a part of coordinating die set and I love that Katia ads sentiment dies to coordinating sets) out of the masking paper and adhered at the the top right corner of my card panel. After my background was done and I lifted the mask, I got a white word thanks on the yellow background. I love how it looks! I didn’t want the sentiment to steel attention from my gorgeous teacup with flowers and I think this did the trick.

I coloured flowers on the tag and card differently on purpose. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a set. Hope you like what I made for your inspiration and it will help you decide what nee SK products you need in your stash. ;)
